Oversight Hearing on Library of Congress Now Available

The July 27, 2006 Oversight Hearing on the Library Congress titled “Library of Congress: Library of the 21st Century” is now available. The purpose of the oversight hearing was to get an update on the operations of the Library of Congress, and the ways in which the Library is preparing for its future through strategic planning, technology, design and preservation initiatives.

An archived webcast of the event is available, as well as print transcripts of the opening statement by Chair Vernon J. Ehlers, Committee on House Administration, and witness testimonies by Dr. James H. Billington (Librarian of Congress), JoAnne Jenkins (Chief of Staff, Office of the Librarian of Congress), Deanna Marcum (Associate Librarian for Library Services, Library of Congress), Laura Campbell (Associate Librarian for Strategic Initiatives, Library of Congress) and Dennis M. Roth (President, Congressional Research Employees Association).
