50th Anniversary Events
ALCTS 50/50 Campaign
ALCTS will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2007! The year-long celebration theme, “Commemorating Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, Creating Our Future,” will begin with the start of the Midwinter Meeting in Seattle (January 19-24, 2007) and will reach a momentous point during ALA’s Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. (June 21-27, 2007). Both Seattle and Washington, D.C. are exciting venues, and a number of outstanding programs and special events are in development to mark the occasion.
The events include a 2007 Midwinter Kick-Off reception, a symposium, and an open forum. The 2007 Annual Conference will include a special preconference, a gala ALCTS Anniversary Dinner, and an awards ceremony including the newly created Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award (see the following article) funded by a generous gift from EBSCO.
Please help to celebrate this significant milestone by making a $50 gift to ALCTS in recognition of fifty years of the Association’s presence and service to the library community. Gifts will support anniversary events and help the Association build for the future. Donations to ALCTS are tax deductible.
