Onward to San Antonio

I have been finalizing my plans for the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Antonio, and hope many of you will also have a chance to attend. For your convenience, this issue of ANO contains the ALCTS Midwinter Meeting schedule, plus announcements of discussion group topics and other conference events of interest. Some of the highlights include: the Resource for Description and Access ( RDA) Update Forum, the Volunteer Forum, the Education Action Summit, an open meeting of the ALCTS 50th Anniversary Committee, and (of course) the ALCTS Member Reception. Use the ALA Event Planner to help ease the burden of preparing a schedule. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Meeting, and also hope to meet some new faces.

A new feature, “Experience ALCTS,” debuts with this issue, and will become a regular feature. ALCTS Past-President Peggy Johnson shares with readers her experiences with ALCTS, which I believe you will find inspiring. Additionally, Jennifer Bowen, the ALA Representative to the Joint Steering Committee for revision of AACR, will be providing a series of semiannual articles on RDA for ANO, beginning with this issue. Also included are Edward Swanson’s "New Publications" column (always a good source of information on professional literature), and our regular calendar of events.

See you in a few weeks on the Riverwalk or elsewhere in San Antonio!
