Electronic Resource Management Interest Group Meeting

The Electronic Resource Management Interest Group will meet on Friday, January 20, from 07:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (location to be determined). This is a meeting to share information and discuss hot topics and initiatives in the area of electronic resource management, including local and vendor development efforts. Participants should come prepared to share experiences, recommendations, and ideas for the continued development of electronic resource management systems. Please come and participate in the discussion.

Technical Services Administrators in Medium-Sized Research Libraries

The Technical Services Administrators in Medium-Sized Research Libraries (Medium Heads) Discussion Group will meet on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The location is to be determined. The meeting is open to all interested parties. Our discussion topic is “The Future of Technical Services, Pt. 1: Threats and Opportunities.” We will build on this discussion at the Annual Conference next summer.

ALCTS Volunteer Forum

Want to learn how you can get involved in ALCTS? Attend the Third Annual ALCTS Volunteer Forum, sponsored by the ALCTS Leadership Development Committee, on Saturday, January 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Antonio. You will learn about the committee appointment process, and hear firsthand from the division appointing officers about opportunities to participate in the organization. Presenters include the ALCTS President-Elect and the Chairs-Elect of the Acquisitions, Cataloging and Classification, Collection Management and Development, Preservation and Reformatting, and Serials Sections, and the Council of Regional Groups. New Task Force on Non-English Access

A new Task Force on Non-English Access has been created to address resolutions that came before Council at ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. It will examine our role in enabling access to library resources in all languages and scripts and in addressing the needs of users of materials in all languages and scripts through the development of library standards and practices. | MORE

The Serials Acquisitions Glossary and the Supplement have been combined into an updated volume. | MORE

Nominations for SAGE Travel Grant Sought

Underwritten by a generous contribution from Sage Publications, the travel grants cover the expense of attending the Conference, including airfare, three nights lodging, and Conference registration; up to $1,000 for each recipient. | MORE
