Key Actions from ALCTS Annual Conference Board Meetings in Orlando

Following are the key actions, in summary form, taken by the ALCTS Board of Directors during the 2004 ALA Annual Meeting in Orlando. Routine actions, such as adopting agendas and approving minutes, are not included.

Moved that the revised charge of the ALCTS International Relations Committee be sent to the ALCTS Organization and Bylaws Committee for approval.

Moved that nominations for representatives to IFLA Section Standing Committees for the term 2005-2009 be forwarded to the ALA International Relations Committee and thence to the ALA Executive Board for approval.

Moved that, in accordance with the goals of the Strategic Plan (Goal 6, Objective 4; Goal 4, Objective 6) and the ALCTS Membership Business Plan 2002-2005 (section 3.2.3, 2.5, and 5.1), ALCTS establish a grant to allow paraprofessional staff to attend ALA Annual. This is a pilot project for 2005 that will be supported by a pledge of $3,000 from Sage Publications.

Moved that the ALCTS Web Editor position be discontinued effective July 1, 2004.

Approved the FY 2004/05 budget as submitted and adjusted to reflect Board-approved increases in membership dues and LRTS subscription rates.

Moved that ALCTS Membership dues be increased to $55 for personal and to $65 for institutional memberships.

Moved that Library Resources and Technical Services subscription rates be raised to $75 for domestic subscribers and to $85 for foreign subscribers.

Approved the timelines for the Strategic Plan as outlined in proposed 2006-2011 Planning Calendar.

Moved that: ALCTS form a joint Task Force on the Cataloging Rules for Early Printed Monographs (AACR 2.12.18) with CCS/CC:DA and the ACRL/Rare Books and Manuscripts Section's Bibliographic Standards Committee. (RBMS had requested that this committee become a joint task force, so that all members have equal status as full members.)

Agreed to co-sponsor the Imaging Science and Technology Conference in April 2005 in Alexandra, VA.
