ALCTS To Hold Conference Reception During Midwinter 2004 in San Diego

For the past several years, ALCTS has held a reception for Midwinter attendees. This year the reception, renamed the Presidential Assembly, will be held Saturday evening, January 10, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel, America's Cup Ballroom. The reception will be in honor of Seymour Lubetzky, who died this past year; it will be sponsored by the UCLA Department of Library and Information Science and David Lubetzky, son of the honoree.

After remarks by Brian Schottlaender, ALCTS President, there will be short presentations by:

  • Elaine Svenonius, UCLA, on Seymour the Man;
  • Barbara Tillett, Library of Congress, on Seymour's impact on cataloging rules;
  • Martha Yee, UCLA, on Seymour's futuristic views on the structure and use of online catalogs; and
  • Michael Gorman, California State University-Fresno, on Seymour's legacy.

Please join your fellow ALCTS members as we gather to honor this giant of our profession.
