Editor Sought for ALCTS Papers Series

ALCTS is seeking applications for the position of editor of the ALCTS Papers on Library Technical Services and Collections series.

The theme-oriented series publishes papers from the continuing education offerings (e.g., preconferences, institutes, workshops, and web courses) and conference programs (individually or in combination) of ALCTS and other appropriate groups. The editor also solicits supplementary manuscripts for volumes as needed. The series produces an annual volume at minimum.

The editor, working in close conjunction with the Program Planning Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Publications Committee, identifies promising continuing education sessions and programs as they are being proposed and approaches potential contributors as they develop their presentations and programs. Once the session or program has occurred, the editor works with the contributors to produce a timely collection of papers from their presentations. The editor provides counsel and support for contributors, editing manuscripts for consistency and uniform style.

The editor serves as a voting, ex-officio member of the Publications Committee and is strongly encouraged to attend meetings of the Program Planning Committee as well.

The editor is appointed for a three year, renewable term and receives travel support for the ALA Annual and Midwinter meetings. To receive this appointment, the series editor must retain ALCTS membership for the duration of her or his term of office.

To apply for this position, send a resume and a letter including information about previous editorial experience to: Jack Montgomery, ALCTS Series Editor Search Committee, Western Kentucky University, 309 Helm-Cravens Library, 1 Big Red Way, Bowling Green, KY 42101 ( jack.montgomery@wku.edu ; fax (270)-745-3958; voice (270) 745-6156) by June 1. The committee will conduct interviews at the ALA Annual Conference in Toronto in June 2003.
