Subcommittees

A committee chair may appoint a subcommittee for the purpose of undertaking a special project with a specific purpose. A subcommittee chair, most frequently in consultation with the parent committee, appoints the members of the subcommittee. These appointments are governed by the same policies as govern other committees, and the same procedures should be observed. A subcommittee chair reports to the parent committee chair. When the work of a subcommittee is completed, the parent committee chair disbands it.

The subcommittee may be composed of a broad range of individuals whose expertise lends itself to service on the subcommittee. The chair of the subcommittee must be an ALCTS member and preferably a member of the section if a section subcommittee. The subcommittee may draw some of its members from non-ALCTS organization if deemed necessary.
