ALCTS Election Calendar

MAJOR DEADLINES

November 15

  • Slates of candidates must be completed and submitted to the ALCTS Office

December 15

  • Candidate information must be completed and submitted to the ALCTS Office Spring prior to election
  • President-elect and Section and CRG Chairs-elect appoint members to their Nominating Committees.
  • The members on the division and section nominating committees accept the appointment.

Annual Conference

  • Division and section nominating committees may meet to identify candidates for offices.

September/October

  • Nominating committees contact potential candidates for the election.

November

  • Nominating committees submit the completed slate of candidates to the ALCTS Office by the 15th.
  • ALCTS Office contacts candidates about ALA Biographical Form and Candidate Notification Form.
  • ALCTS Office does a follow-up email to all candidates who have not returned their biographical forms.

December

  • Nominees complete and submit biographical forms, statement of concern and candidate acceptance forms to the ALCTS Office by the December 15th deadline.
  • ALCTS Office makes preparations to the ALCTS Ballots.
  • ALCTS Office does a follow-up email to all candidates who have not returned their biographical forms.

Midwinter

  • The chair of the Division nominating committee reports the final slates to the ALCTS Board of Directors for approval.

January

  • ALCTS Office makes final preparations to the ALCTS Ballots.
  • ALCTS Office does a final follow-up email to all candidates who have not returned their biographical forms.

February/March

  • The ballots are printed and mailed to voting members.
  • Electronic ballot information is send to members via email
  • Slates of candidates is published in February issue of ALCTS Newsletter Online

April

  • The ballots are counted and verified to the ALA Election Committee.

May (usually first Monday or Tuesday)

  • ALCTS Office receives the election results and notifies both successful and unsuccessful candidates.
