Teen Read Week 2007 Contest Rules
Eligibility: No purchase necessary. The contest commences at 12:00:01 AM (ET) on September 1, 2007 and runs through to 11:00:00 PM (ET) on November 30, 2007 (the "Contest Period"). Contest entry is open to all current YALSA members who intend to hold a special Teen Read WeekTM celebration for the 2007 Teen Read WeekTM. Eligible persons cannot be employees of the American Library Association, Mirrorstone Books, their affiliated companies, or their respective advertising agencies, or be a relative of these persons. The contest is void where prohibited by law.
To Enter: Submit a contest application form with your name, complete mailing address, phone number, including area code, email address and a description of your event (maximum 250 words). As well, each entrant must agree to media coverage and must indicate this on the entry form.
Contest application forms can be downloaded in PDF format at www.ala.org/teenread. All entries must be mailed or faxed to: Win a Visit with Tiffany Trent Contest, c/o YALSA 50 E. Huron St., Chicago, IL, 60611, (312) 280-5276 (fax). Entries must contain sufficient postage and be limited to one (1) entry per person. To be eligible, all entries must be received no later than 11:00:00 PM (ET) November 30, 2007, the "Contest Closing Date."
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and Mirrorstone are the "Sponsors" of the contest.
PRIZE: There will be one prize available. Tiffany Trent will visit the premises of the winner for two hours during a mutually agreeable time in March 2008 in order to spend time reading from her books and visiting with the winning contestants’ library patrons. Media will be present during this period. Ms. Trent is not bilingual and will be conducting the reading in English only. Approximate value of prize: $1,500.
This prize must be accepted as awarded and has no cash equivalent, nor is it transferable. There will be no substitutes except at the discretion of the Sponsors. The odds of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received.
Prize Administration: This is a judged contest, not a random draw, and all entries will be judged based on originality and creativity of ideas, as well as the adherence to contest rules. All decisions are final. The winning entry will be contacted by telephone and/or email during the week of January 21, 2007. If, for any reason, the selected entrant cannot reply during that week, his/her entry will be disqualified and the entry judged the next best will be awarded the prize.
Before being declared the winner, the winning entrants will be required to sign a Declaration and Release Form (the "Release Form") confirming compliance with the contest rules and acceptance of the prize as awarded, and releasing the Sponsors and their affiliated agencies from any liability in connection with the prizes or this contest. Declaration and Release Forms must be returned within the time period specified on the Form. All prizes will be awarded.
Conditions of Participation: By participating in the Win a Visit from Tiffany Trent Contest, each entrant accepts and agrees to these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsors, which shall be final and legally binding. The Sponsors will not be responsible for late, lost, misdirected, falsified, incomplete or destroyed entries and all such entries are void. The Sponsors do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information; Technical malfunctions; human or technical error; lost, delayed or garbled data; or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software, or any combination thereof. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants. All entries and intellectual property contained in the entries will become the property of YALSA once submitted and none will be returned. This contest is subject to all Federal, State and Municipal laws.
YALSA has the exclusive right to publish or broadcast, in part or in whole, any Teen Read Week celebration activity ideas received through this contest, in any and all YALSA publications or video, YALSA television/print public service announcements, and local, state or national media, without limitations, whether apart from or in connection with any written matter, video, advertising or news item pertaining to the Win a Visit with Tiffany Trent contest.
The Sponsors accept no responsibility for loss, damage or claims caused by, or resulting from, the contest or prizes associated with this contest. By entering and accepting a prize, each winner consents to the use of his/her name and photographs without further renumeration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsors with respect to this contest.
The Sponsors reserve the right to terminate or to amend this contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as originally planned, the Sponsors reserve the right to cancel the contest and conduct judging from all previously received eligible entries received on or before the Contest Closing Date. The Sponsors shall not be held responsible for any problems, errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest including, but not limited to, any damage to an entrant's computer equipment, system, software, or any combination thereof, as a result of the entrant's participation in this contest. Each entrant will be responsible for its own costs in submitting an entry and receiving the prize and hosting the event.
Privacy: The Sponsors respect your right to privacy. Unless otherwise indicated, any information provided will only be used to assess the entries and execute the contest. By providing personally identifiable information, you consent to the collection of this information by the Sponsors for the purpose of administering this contest. Except where required by law, the Sponsors do not disclose consumer information to third parties.
