TEENS’ TOP TEN BOOKS
WHERE TEENS CHOOSE THE WINNERS!
As a teen, how do you choose interesting books to read for fun?
You might use
-
Book reviews in your favorite magazines
-
Displays in bookstores and libraries
-
Books that get media attention, from celebrity picks to Harry Potter
-
Booklists of great reading for teens made by librarians and teachers
-
Personal recommendations from teachers, librarians, or other adults who know books
-
Must-reads shared with your friends
-
Following fads of what “everybody” is reading
You probably find good books from places like that, but are you always satisfied?
Now you and your friends can help create an exciting nationwide list of books chosen for teens by teens as the best reads of the year - Teens’ Top Ten Books!
Nominators are members of teen book groups in five school and public libraries around the country—Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina and Wisconsin —selected for their experience in discussing books. (Nominating groups change every two years.)
If you read nominated books throughout the year, you’ll be ready to vote for your favorites during Teen Read Week, October 16 - 22, 2005. Readers aged twelve to eighteen can vote right here, online, anytime that week.
New nominations are posted from February through June 2005. Read as many titles as you can so you can make informed decisions about your favorite books when you vote.
Encourage your friends to join you in TTT reading and voting. The more teens who participate, the more accurately the winning list will reflect the reading tastes of teens all over the country. Being part of Teens’ Top Ten Books can be an individual or a group project. Tell your book group, youth organization, and other teen gatherings about TTT.
Reading and voting for TTT is fun, free, and easy.
You don’t even have to register your name.
Teens' Top Ten Books (TTT) is part of YA Galley, a project of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
