Opposing UCITA in your state

Get educated and keep informed

  • Learn UCITA basics through the ALA UCITA Online Tutorial
  • Participate in the UCITA teleconference ('Headlines' button, above).
  • Check out the best UCITA websites ('Library' button, above).
  • Check out the ALA UCITA Flash Reports (button above) and monitor UCITA in your state.
  • Subscribe to the ALA Washington Office Electronic Newsline (ALAWON). Follow UCITA and keep track of federal legislation.
  • Contact your state library association directly and learn about their efforts to oppose UCITA in your state legislature.

Actively oppose UCITA

  • Send an e-mail message directly to your state senators and representatives through the Americans for Fair Electronic Commerce Transactions (AFFECT) grassroots action site.
  • Send a letter to your state senators and representatives.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your state's key newspaper
  • Download the Basic UCITA Fact Sheet , a one-page brief designed as talking points and as a brief appropriate for meetings with legislators and their staffs.

Become part of the national coalition opposing UCITA

  • Urge your state library association to join AFFECT the national coalition fighting UCITA.
