ALAWON

ALAWON stands for ALA Washington Office Newsline. It's a free, irregular e-mail publication of the ALA Washington Office, keeping library advocates up to date on major legislative issues in the Nation's Capital.

For the most current issues, please visit the ALA Washington Office's blog, District Dispatch, and click on the ALAWON link in the side bar. For past issues, please see the ALAWON Archives.

Contact information, including addresses, phone numbers, e-mail address, and Web links contained in the ALAWON issues were correct at the time of publication, but are, of course, subject to change or deletion by their owners or publishers.

ALAWON, ISSN 1069-7799

To subscribe/unsubscribe to ALAWON, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to lists.ala.org;

  3. Click ala-wo@ala.org;
  4. Click Subscribe or Unsubscribe;
  5. Enter your email address and click Submit. A welcome message with your password will be sent to you.
If these steps don't work, or you need other assistance, contact the Washington Office.

Legislative Action Center

The Legislative Action Center (LAC) is ALA's pipeline to Capitol Hill. It features updates on all the important library-related legislation making its way through Congress. More importantly, it allows you to send an email or fax directly to your Members of Congress! Be sure to type in a personalized story or description about how the legislation you're writing about impacts your library.

If you experience problems with or have questions about the LAC, please email Andy Bridges.

And don't hesitate to pick up the phone, too! Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-225-3121 to contact your Members of Congress.
