National Library Legislative Day 2008 Information for State Coordinators
We need strong state leadership for National Library Legislative Day 2008!
National Library Legislative Day 2008 will be your opportunity to visit Capitol Hill and lead your state's delegation in discussion of legislation that is important to libraries. The Legislative Day events provide an important opportunity for each participant to educate newly elected and returning Senators and Representatives about all the terrific programs at your library and on issues that are important to the larger library community. Your Congressional representatives want to know about how libraries and library programs impact the lives of their constituents - and who better to tell them about the continuing importance of libraries than a strong group of library advocates?
We need your help!
The key to a successful Library Legislative Day is a strong state coordinator. The state coordinator is responsible for:
- Arranging appointments with state legislators and their staff;
- Registering participants with the ALA Washington Office;
- Identifying and assisting registrants;
- Handling the preparation and distribution of state fact sheets.
Your contact information will be listed on the State Coordinators Directory.
If you need more information or have questions about Legislative Day, please email Susan Heltemes or call 1-800-941-8478.
