What is MARS?

MARS is the Machine Assisted Reference Section.

Who we Are
Looking for a dynamic group of professionals interested in mastering the rapidly evolving technology that affects the reference and research departments of every library? Look no further - you've found the Machine-Assisted Reference Section (MARS)! We are part of the Reference and User Services Association of the American Library Association. Virtual reference services, document delivery, networked information resources: these are just a few of the issues discussed in MARS. Meet colleagues to talk about recent developments in the National Information Infrastructure (NII) debate. Find common ground with managers who must rethink and redesign the delivery of reference services. Plan evaluation and analysis of service patterns with peers who can offer guidance and support. Share experiences and solutions with reference librarians on the front lines of information services in an electronic age. The possiblities for professional and personal growth are enormous! For more information see the MARS HANDBOOK.
