Membership in the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) is open to ALA members who are interested in the provision of reference and user services in all types of libraries.
Or you may register online. Please note that the online registration process includes joining ALA (or providing your ALA membership number if you are already a member).

Joining RUSA allows you to network with more than 5,000 members who do things that you do. Join reference and user services librarians, bibliographers, administrators, collection developers, consultants, and publishers who can help your professional growth.

As a member you will:

Receive a subscription to the Reference and User Services Quarterly, the definitive quarterly journal on reference and user services;
Be able to call on experienced and knowledgeable staff for information advice and counsel;
Receive RUSA guidelines to help you offer quality services to your clientele;
Receive discounts on RUSA publications, and be able to attend RUSA preconferences and other educational opportunities at a reduced registration rates;
Be able to participate in the many committees and discussion groups offered in RUSA's six sections. When you join RUSA, you may join any of these sections at no additional charge.

The sections are:

Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS)

Collection Development and Evaluation Section (CODES)

History Section (HS)

Machine-Assisted Reference Section (MARS)

Reference Services Section (RSS) (formerly MOUSS)

Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS)

You need to be a member of ALA to join RUSA. The price of RUSA membership is $60 (plus the cost of ALA membership). Dues for support staff, retirees, inactive, or non-salaried members are $30. ALA Student member dues are $25. For an organization to join is $80 (plus the cost of ALA membership).
