Welcome to Collection Services Main Page!
The pages in this section are intended to provide you with information on a variety of collection services in libraries from acquisitions to special collections (not quite A to Z).
These dynamically created pages are new to the ALA web site. Within Collection Services you will find links to materials relating to these and many more related topics that are brought together from throughout the ALA web site. In the future, other important information on collection services in libraries will be posted here as will more links to practical advice and applications, recent developments, and theory. You will also find important information on upcoming events, publications, and activities.
ALA has many points at which you can become involved in collection services. Here are a few. Visit their web pages for more information.
For a technical services perspective, the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is an excellent source of involvement for many professionals.
From a reference perspective, an important source is the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA).
The Library Services Cluster of the Public Library Association (PLA) is another source for involvement for public library staff.
The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has many opportunities for academic library staff.
Interest in collection services crosses much of ALA and as this page develops, many other groups will be highlighted.
Thank you for visiting the Collection Services Main Page. Check back frequently.
