YALSA chooses new quarterly journal editor

CHICAGO -The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the fastest-growing division of the American Library Association (ALA), named RoseMary Honnold the editor of Young Adult Library Services, its quarterly journal. Honnold will begin her editorship in April with the Summer 2008 issue.

"I am excited about the opportunity to learn a new aspect of writing and publishing and to contribute to YALSA in a unique and hopefully creative way," said Honnold. "It is satisfying and enriching to be part of YALSA's leadership and to pass on what I have learned to new members."

Honnold is a longtime YALSA member who has written five books, including YALSA's "Get Connected: Tech Programs for Teens" (Neal-Schuman, 2007). In 2007, Honnold chaired YALSA's Teen Read Week committee as well as the jury for YALSA's fifth round of Excellence in Library Services to Young Adults. She is the Young Adult Services Coordinator at the Coshocton (Ohio) Public Library.

For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos, and audio books for teens. For more information about YALSA or for lists of recommended reading, viewing and listening, go to www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists, or contact the YALSA office by phone, (800) 545-2433, ext. 4390, or e-mail, yalsa@ala.org.
