LAMA launches learning online with CPLA course

CHICAGO - The Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) will offer its first fully online course, "The Complex Edifice: Analyzing Your Dream Library," Aug. 7 through Sept. 13, 2006.  This course, which fulfills a core requirement for the Certified Public Library Administrator Program (CPLA), is open to all interested librarians and facilities planners.

Course participants will determine the current and future functionality of a library facility, establish the capital investment needs of the facility, and develop operating and capital budgets for facilities.  The course will include interactive exercises, collaborative work, threaded discussions and online chats.  William Sannwald, retired city librarian of the San Diego Public Library, is the course instructor. He is currently a full-time management and marketing professor in the business school at San Diego State University.

The course fee is $400 for LAMA members and $450 for others. Registration begins August 4 and runs through August 11.  To register for "The Complex Edifice: Analyzing Your Dream Library," visit The Complex Edifice.
