PLA Reorganization Timeline

March 17, 2008 ALA/PLA Ballot sent to PLA members including PLA Bylaws revision and election for Officers and Cluster Board members
March  25-29, 2008 National Conference – Minneapolis Information forum re Proposed Reorganization
May 2, 2008  Election Results released

If bylaws revision is approved:

Spring 2008 Incoming President Carol Sheffer does not make Cluster committee appointments
Infrastructure for communities of practice identified
May 10, 2008 Executive Board meets to finalize reorganization transition plans
Annual Conference 2008 Board/Committees meet with current members
All-committee meeting scheduled
Committees transition to communities of practice 
Quarterly Board meeting schedule begins
Mid-term Board members polled re continuing interest in service
Midwinter Conference 2009 Board seated with new members (24 maximum)
All-committee/community of practice meeting scheduled
Spring 2009 Nominating Committee presents officer slate only
Annual Conference 2009 Board meets, terms of six (6) members expire  
All committee/community of practice meeting scheduled
Midwinter Conference 2010 Board meets with eighteen (18) members, includes officers, one Division Councilor, and one ALTA representative
Spring 2010, 2011 Nominating Committee presents officer slate only
Midwinter Conference 2011, 2012  Board meets with twelve (12) and six (6) members respectively, three officers, one Division Councilor, and one ALTA representative
Spring 2012  Nominating Committee presents slate for six (6) members with staggered terms
Spring 2013 Nominating Committee presents slate for two (2) elected member positions and resumes normal election cycle
