George Lopez—writer, producer and star of the popular ABC-TV sitcom that bears his name—is lending his support to "The Smartest Card: Get it. Use it. @ your library" campaign launched by the Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association.
New posters with Lopez and his library card are available from ALA Graphics. Lopez also recorded radio and television public service ads and appears in print public service ads with the message, "You think you’re pretty smart, right? So why buy when you can borrow?"
The posters, PSAs, "Smartest Card" pencils and other promotional materials with the campaign message can be ordered from the ALA Online Store. The PSAs will be available March 1 to preview/download at www.ala.org/@yourlibrary>.
The "Smartest Card" initiative is part of The Campaign for America's Libraries, a multi-year public awareness and advocacy effort by the ALA to speak loudly and clearly about the value of libraries, librarians and library workers in the 21st Century. The "Smartest Card" campaign launched nationally September 30 at the Brooklyn Public Library.
