2008 Youth Media Awards
Each year the American Library Association (ALA) honors books, videos, audiobooks and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent, ALA awards guide parents, educators, librarians and others in selecting the best materials for youth. Selected by judging committees composed of librarians and other children's experts, the awards encourage original and creative work.
On January 14, a standing-room-only crowd of enthusiastic librarians and publishers with gather at the Pennsylvania Convention Center to cheer their favorites and to be the first in the nation to know which books are destined to be lasting classics.
