"Put it in Writing @ your library" workshops
A mix of 10 community college and public libraries throughout the country will host writers' workshops led by writers from Woman's Day magazine on April 4, 2006, during National Library Week.  The workshops are part of the "Put it in Writing @ your library program," a partnership with ALA and Woman's Day to promote the the wealth of opportunities that all types of libraries offer to spark writers’ imaginations and creativity and help develop a community of writers.

Woman’s Day writers will lead writers through the process of getting published in a magazine, drawing on their own experiences and specialties. The workshops are offered free and open to the public. Librarians at the sponsoring libraries will also showcase what library resources are available to help writers in their communities break into the writing business.

Promote your library's resources for writers using these Put it in Writing @ your library

Other ALA/Woman's Day initiatives

  • Researching your family tree @ your library®
The March 2006 issue of Woman's Day features the two readers who responded to the magazine's inquiry in 2005 about why they would want to research their family tree at a library.  The piece will feature the two readers at their local libraries.

  • Woman's Day online book club
Looking for a good read?  Visit Woman's Day magazine's Web site to view book recommendations from ALA member librarians as part of the publication's online book club.

Currently YALSA members will give their recommendations of the best reads for young adults.

Starting this summer, RUSA members will be offering up their recommendations.
