Research on Libraries and Librarianship in 2000

Noteworthy Publications

The Annual Review of OCLC Research continues to be available only on the Web. See http://www.oclc.org/oclc/research/publications/review99/toc.htm. A new journal that started in 2000 will be available both in print and on the Web. Portal: Libraries and the Academy will publish both research and opinion. An important feature of the journal is the editors' emphasis on mentoring. Managing Editor Gloriana St. Clair says it this way: "The portal board, mentors, and editors want to help authors from the moment they decide to engage in research to the moment when they elect to submit the finished product either to portal or to some other journal. The mentors will be available to consult with authors about topic selection and identification, about issues around statistical sampling and survey design, and around the crafting of the article itself."
