CHICAGO- Shorlette Ammons-Stephens, Wayne County Public Library, Goldsboro, NC, and Reese Evenson, Jefferson County Public Library, Arvada, Colo., have been selected as the 2008 Emerging Leaders sponsored by the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
This year's Emerging Leaders Program allows 124 librarians from across the country to participate in problem-solving workgroups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. It also enables new librarians to get on the fast track to ALA and professional leadership. The program began in 2007 as one of ALA Past-President Leslie Burger's six initiatives. The American Library Association (ALA) has committed to making this program available annually.
