Upcoming American Library Association Conferences (ALA and ALA chapters, divisions, and affiliates)

Promotions to Increase Floor Traffic:

The Exhibits Round Table has been working hard with ALA to increase the traffic on the floor of the Exhibits. Different projects are underway (and more are in the planning stage) which are designed to:

  1. Encourage more librarians to attend conference,
  2. Encourage more conference attendees to visit the Exhibits, and
  3. Encourage attendees to spend more time in the Exhibit Halls once there.

Midwinter Meeting promotional activities:

Authors Forum: Well-known popular authors participate in a panel discussion of their most recent books in a room near the exhibit hall. Immediately following the forum these authors will join the exhibitors at the All Conference Reception to sign autographs for ALA attendees.

All-Conference Reception: The reception is held Friday evening in the exhibit hall. ALA provides food, drink and entertainment. This Friday night reception has proven to be a great way to kick off the Midwinter exhibits and meet with librarians who sometimes don't get to the exhibit hall during the conference.

Gift Basket Drawings: Exhibitors are invited to contribute gift baskets for a drawing to be held at the All-Conference Reception. The gift baskets are a great way for everybody to increase booth traffic. Baskets, along with the donating company's name, are displayed near the registration area on Friday afternoon and moved to each donor's booth for the reception. You can have attendees register to win the gift baskets by visiting your booth and ALA will announce and post the winners prior to the close of the reception Friday evening.

Technology Showcase: Monday, on the exhibit floor, participating companies have the opportunity to showcase their latest technological products in individual sessions. Because of the overwhelming response to the Showcases, we have expanded this event to include six sessions.

Annual Conference promotional activities:

ERT Silent Auction: The Silent Auction is held to benefit the ERT Scholarship Fund. Exhibiting firms may donate products or services to be auctioned during the conference. Items are displayed in the Silent Auction area near the exhibit hall and donors receive a recognition sign to disply in their booth.

ERT Closing Reception: Held on the last afternoon of the exhibits, the Closing Reception provides an opportunity for attendees and exhibitors to relax and enjoy a light lunch and refreshments in the exhibit hall.

Programming by tracks: At the Annual Conference, all programming is arranged by topic tracks. Each track has an extended "exhibit-only" time. Sessions immediately before and after these times are scheduled in facilities near the exhibt hall.
