HEADS-UP FOR LIBRARIANS
GET YOUR TEENS INVOLVED IN TEENS' TOP TEN BOOKS
In preparation for the debut of Teens' Top Ten Books (TTT), the new annual "best" list of books chosen by teens (Teens' Top Ten Books (TTT) is part of YA Galley, a project of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
Books published in 2004 and 2005 (but not previously nominated for TTT) are nominated by five selected Teens' Top Ten reading groups in school and public libraries around the country, whose librarian advisors are members of YALSA's YA Galley Project. During Teen Read Week 2005 (October 16 - 22), all teen readers are encouraged to vote for their favorite titles.
Meanwhile, as the adults who encourage teens to read, it's your job to point your teens to the site and urge them to start reading nominated titles now, in preparation for voting. The more they read, the more their votes will reflect the genuine opinions of our nation's teen readers. We hope that your teens will spend their summer reading as many nominations as possible—perhaps you'll consider adding a TTT component to your teen summer reading program.
Details about how to vote for the Teens' Top Ten Books will appear on this site. School and public library teen Web sites are encouraged to add the YALSA Teen Reading link (http://www.ala.org/teenread) that leads to TTT nominations, making participation convenient for their teens.
