Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS)

Welcome to STARS!  I am very excited to be chairing this dynamic and enthusiastic section.  In four short years, STARS has established itself as the section dedicated to resource-sharing activities.  We offer programs, continuing education, and networking opportunities to support resource-sharing practitioners. 

With fourteen committees and two discussion groups, you have many opportunities to serve on a STARS committee.   Discussing issues of mutual concern, you can broaden your perspective while at the same time, find ways to solve problems or enhance services in your library. It is possible to develop relationships with others facing similar situations at their institutions that could become a valuable resource for you. Committee work offers opportunities to gain teamwork skills, leadership, and management experience.

The web page is under development, but in the near future, you will see links to our committees and discussion groups and their charges.  You will also find links to program announcements, the section brochure, and other information relevant to you.

We welcome your energy and enthusiasm to this section!

The majority of the committee and task force appointments are made in the spring by matching STARS members' interests and background with the section's needs.  If you are interested in contributing your ideas and talent to a STARS committee, please contact Denise Forro at forro@mail.lib.mus.edu.

Image STARS-L Listserv

The STARS-L listserv is a discussion group dedicated to issues relating to interlibrary loan, document delivery, remote circulation, access services, cooperative reference, cooperative collection development, remote storage, and other shared library services  by members of RUSA-STARS.  This list is only open to RUSA-STARS members.

There are two ways to subscribe to STARS-L:

1. Send an e-mail to sympa@ala.org
In the Subject line, put: SUBSCRIBE STARS-L YOUR NAME
For example:  SUBSCRIBE STARS-L Jane Smith
Do not put anything in the body of the message

2. Go to the ALA Mailing Lists service http://lists.ala.org/wws
Click on "Closed Lists" or "View All Lists" and select stars-l@ala.org
Select "Subscribe" from the menu on the left
Enter your e-mail address and click on the "Submit" button

When your request to subscribe has been approved by the list owners, you will receive an e-mail welcome message.
