June Garcia
June Garcia has over 38 years experience as a public librarian. Her experience includes six years as director of an urban library (San Antonio Public Library), twelve years as the administrator of a branch library system (Phoenix Public Library), and five years as a branch manager. She has served as CEO of the CARL Corporation, and as Vice President and Chief Ambassador of TLC/CARL. For six years, Ms. Garcia was a managing partner, along with Ronald Dubberly, of Dubberly Garcia Associates, a broad-based consulting company serving the library industry. Since February 2008, she has been sole proprietor of June Garcia LLC.
Ms. Garcia has been an active participant for over 25 years in the Public Library Association’s efforts to develop tools that will enable public librarians and trustees to effectively plan, measure and evaluate public library service. She is co-author, along with Sandra Nelson, of Creating Policies for Results: From Chaos to Clarity (ALA 2003) and Public Library Service Responses (2007). Ms. Garcia is also Associate Editor for the Results series of publications by PLA.
Ms. Garcia has been a frequent speaker at library conferences on a wide variety of topics relating to public library planning, productivity, measurement and evaluation, facilities planning, and fund raising.
Ms. Garcia was the President of the Public Library Association from 1991-1992, and she has served three terms on the ALA Council.
Sandra Nelson

is a consultant, speaker, trainer, and writer specializing in public library planning and management issues. She has presented hundreds of training programs in 48 states during the past three decades. During her career, Nelson has worked in both large and small public libraries and in state library agencies.
Ms. Nelson is the author of Implementing for Results: Your Strategic Plan in Action (ALA, 2009), Strategic Planning for Results (ALA, 2008) and The New Planning for Results: A Streamlined Approach (ALA, 2001) and co-author of Creating Policies for Results: From Chaos to Clarity (ALA, 2003), Managing for Results: Effective Resource Allocation for Public Libraries (ALA, 2000), and Wired for the Future: Developing Your Library Technology Plan (ALA, 1999). She is the Senior Editor of the Public Library Association Results series.
Ms. Nelson’s awards include Arizona Librarian of the Year (1987), Professional Achievement Award from the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (1996), and Outstanding Alumna Award, University of North Texas, School of Information Science (1999), and the ALA Melvil Dewey Medal (2008).
