Call for Participants

PLA Website Usability Testing

ALA and several of its units are conducting usability testing of the ALA website during Annual Conference. PLA will conduct usability testing of PLA-specific sections and pages. Testing will consist of locating specific pages or information on the site as directed by a sheet of instructions. In addition to testers we are looking for observers to guide the testers off of a checklist. We need a total of ten participants from PLA. Testers will need to provide their own wireless-enabled laptops. Observers do not need laptops.

Ideally, participating testers would be willing to renew or add to their membership as part of the test. (If that's not possible, it would still be ideal to get at least one person per session whose membership will be expiring in August or September.)

WHERE
McCormick Place West. Exact room number will be determined closer to the testing time.

WHO
Up to 10 PLA Member Participants.

WHEN
Saturday July 11 from 10 AM to 12 PM

Sessions will be about 2 hours long, to provide time for everyone to get their computers hooked into the wireless, and for testers to be provided with information and instructions, and for us to meet with everyone for a debriefing once the testing is complete.

PLA testers and observers who complete the testing will receive a $50 gift certificate to the ALA Store per tester or observer.

Please contact Doug Dawson at ddawson@ala.org if you are interested in participating in this test.

Awards Database Interface Testing

ALA will be conducting two 5- to 6-person interface tests of the new Awards Database on Saturday morning, from 8 to 8:50 and from 9:00 to 9:50. Ideally, we would like each division to provide a tester and an alternate that we can call if the first tester can't make it. The incentive for these tests will be a $20 gift certificate to the ALA Store.

Please contact Doug Dawson at ddawson@ala.org if you are interested in participating in this test.

ALA Connect Interface Testing

ALA will also be doing two 5- to 6-person interface tests of ALA Connect on Sunday afternoon, from 4 to 4:45 and from 5:00 to 5:45. Ideally, we would like each division to provide a tester and an alternate that we can call if the first tester can't make it. The incentive for these tests will be a $20 gift certificate to the ALA Store.

Please contact Doug Dawson at ddawson@ala.org if you are interested in participating in this test.
