Board Rotation/Expiration List

Current PLA Board

The 2008 bylaws revision calls, for a PLA board of directors consisting of: president, president-elect, past president, 6 members at large (2 elected each year with staggered terms), ALA division councilor, representative from ALTA who is a non-voting, PLA executive director. The bylaws revision provides for a transition in the size of the PLA board of directors. This transition will take place though the 2012 program year, which at that time will bring the total number on the PLA board of directors to twelve (12) members from the current number of twenty four (24).

Below is a year by year summary in the composition of the PLA board of directors through 2012.

2009

Will have 17 directors at large (2009, 2010, 2011), plus president, past president, president-elect, ALA division councilor, ALTA rep, executive director. Total board members: 23 Note one board member was unable to fulfill the new terms of service therefore we have 23 continuing board members rather than 24.

Spring ballot:

  • PLA president

Board members whose terms expire 2009:

  • Larry Neal
  • Neel Parikh
  • Eva Poole
  • Cathy Sanford

2010

Will have 12 directors at large (2010, 2011), plus president, past president, president-elect, ALA division councilor, ALTA rep, executive director. Total board members: 17

Spring ballot:

  • PLA president

Board members whose terms expire 2010:

  • Irene Blalock
  • Audra Caplan
  • Sara Dallas
  • Michael Golrick
  • Lillian Snyder
  • Marcia Warner

2011

Will have 6 directors at large (2011) plus president, past president, president-elect, ALA division councilor, ALTA rep, executive director. Total board members: 12

Spring ballot:

  • PLA president
  • 2 directors at large (1 year term 2011-2012)
  • 2 directors at large (2 year term 2012-2013)
  • 2 directors at large (3 year term 2013-2014)
  • ALA Division Councilor (3 year term 2011-2014)

2012

Will have 6 directors at large (2012, 2013, 2014), plus president, past president, president-elect, councilor, ALTA rep, executive director. Total board members: 12

  • 2 directors at large—2012 term expires
  • 2 directors at large—2013 term expires
  • 2 directors at large—2014 term expires

Spring ballot:

  • PLA president
  • 2 directors at large (3 year term, 2012-2015)

      All subsequent ballots will consist of president elect, 2 directors at large, and ALA division councilor if appropriate.
