Program Title = RFID in Libraries: New Developments

Current Activities:

Our well-attended program featured five speakers who provided insight into new developments in library RFID technology. They represented viewpoints from an RFID hardware manufacturer, an RFID standards committee, a library RFID vendor, a public library, and a security and privacy technology Ph.D. student. Both national and international developments were explored, including on-the-edge technology as well as current practices.

Due to a missing projector, the meeting started late, leaving little time for a business meeting. Also, we did not circulate the sign-in sheet. The new chair of the committee is Jacob Haas, 3M and the new vice-chair is Vicki Terbovich, Maricopa County Public Library.

A program proposal for ALA 2008 was submitted entitled RFID in Libraries: Myths, FAQs, and ROI.

Future Activities:

This fall we will be obtaining speakers for next summer's program. We will also be eliciting discussion ideas for the mid-winter meeting.
