The easiest way to be involved in LITA is through interest group participation. Interest groups are the core of LITA. They facilitate discussions among like-minded professionals and help to develop interesting and informative ALA programs and publications.
You can plan ahead for these meetings by checking out the schedule of LITA meetings here on the LITA web site before the conference. For a better idea of what activities the interest groups are planning, check their webpage (listed on the left-most column of this page) or contact the interest group chair.
The groups are completely self-initiated and not appointed by LITA officers. To join the group, attend the meetings and be involved with the activities. The leadership of each group is selected by the group, so if you're looking for a chance to develop your leadership skills while learning about your topic of interest, a LITA interest group is the best opportunity for you to do so.
What if there's not a LITA interest group for a topic that is of interest to you right now? Form your own!
