GROUP: Library Consortia/Automated Systems Interest Group

CHAIR: Jon Mark Bolthouse

CONFERENCE: ALA Annual

MEETING: Interest Group business meeting

ATTENDEES: 15

CURRENT ACTIVITIES: At the ALA annual conference in New Orleans, our interest group hosted a managed discussion on ERM systems. Two representatives talked briefly about their respective systems (Ex Libris' Verde system and Innovative Interface's ERM system). We then opened up the floor for questions, and discussed other ERM options.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to the reformation of this interest group. The LITA bylaws committee has asked us to petition as a new group, rather than renew our existing group. The name will be changed to "Library Consortia and Systems" group. The function Statement is as follows: "This Interest Group will provide a forum for discussing emerging trends in technology and its impact on library consortia and their supporting structures."

At the meeting, we were short two signatures for a complete E5 - Interest Group Formation Petition but in recent weeks we were able to gather the necessary number of signatures.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES: The most important activity planned is making sure our new petition is accepted by LITA and that our group continues to meet on a regular basis. We are waiting to hear back from the Bylaws committee. We will discuss the future plans of this group at Midwinter in Seattle.
