MEETING: "You Know FRBR, But Have You Met FRAD?"

CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

Update reports on activities of interest at the Library of Congress and OCLC since the Midwinter Meeting were given by Dave Reser and Robert Bremmer.

The main program, "You Know FRBR, But Have You Met FRAD?" featured three speakers, two of whom have been in the development of the Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD), including the Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Records (FRASAR).  Glenn Patton for OCLC, who has chaired the working group developing FRAD, spoke on "Getting to Know FRAD."  As a counterpoint to his talk, Ed Jones from National University, spoke on "FRAD, A Personal View," reacting to it from the point of view of the practicing cataloger.  Athena Salaba from Kent State University, a member of the working group developing FRASAR, updated the group on the work of FRASAR in her talk entitled, "Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Records: A Conceptual Model of Aboutness."

FUTURE ACTIVITIES:

Developing program topics for the 2009 Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference.
