CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

The business meeting briefly reviewed/critiqued the preceeding program and began to plan for the next year's programming

Incoming chair, Mary Mastraccio, solicited ideas for both the midwinter and 2009 annual conference.

For Midwinter: RDA, reports from LC and OCLC regarding theuse of non-Latin scripts in authority records, MARC changes, MARC mapping for RDA, authority issues related to works and expressions, and the Virtual Internaional Authority File.

For Annual Conference 2009: "The Future is Now: Global Authority Control" and the topics might include: VIAF, form and genre records, the identification of works and expressions, the effect of authority control on keyword searching, how do add on/overlay products affect authority control, LCSH/SKOS, Extensible catalog, UMLS, Fast/Faceted subject headings, and authority work in non-catalog databases such as D-Space.

Nominees were identified for officers to be elected at annual conference. Amy McNeely for vice-chair/chair elect, Elaine Winske for Uniform titles, and John Reese for local systems. These were approved by acclimation.
