Accomplishments: Led the development project to create a DLF-ERMI compliant ERM using open source software. This has been UConn's production ERM and public-facing electronic resource locator since 2005. My other most important contributions have focused on working with others. In co-founding the Open Source Systems Interest Group, my role was to help focus the obvious energy and enthusiasm in the room. I not only helped organize a hands-on preconference never before done by LITA, but subsequently I used the experience I gained there to help other groups and individuals do the same.

STATEMENT: LITA is the professional IT organization for those in libraries. Its strong leadership in this field, based on its nimble, flexible structure of easily-formed Interest Groups, attracted me and to this day earns my enthusiastic support. I am constantly amazed at the creativity and enthusiasm the organization enables in its members to find new ways to address new and old issues. Since my earliest involvement with LITA, I’ve enjoyed this flexibility and have worked to support other LITA members do what LITA does best - help professionals share information about potentially important technological issues, trends and solutions, and thereby help us grow. As ever greater demands are placed on us in our work lives we need to continue seeking new means to help more people participate in these activities within the organization’s financial constraints. I would be honored to continue to nurture this flexible environment by serving as LITA Vice-President/President Elect.
