SOLINET Brings MyiLibrary IGO e-Documents to Its Members

Through an agreement with Coutts Information Services, SOLINET is offering its membership a unique and important electronic resource for researchers and others studying the social sciences on a global scale. MyiLibrary brings together on one platform the electronic books, journals, reports, and other documents – easily searchable, cross searchable, and continuously updated – from the Intergovernmental Organizations (IGO) affiliated or working closely with the United Nations. These organizations are on the ground at the heart of some of the most urgent questions of the day, and the surveys, analyses, and reports they produce provide the foundation for informed opinion and decision-making.

Because libraries are on the front lines in the delivery of information, SOLINET and Coutts have put together a very inexpensive starter package that takes into account the fiscal constraints that characterize the landscape today. Through September 30, 2005, SOLINET is offering the MyiLibrary Intergovernmental Organizations (IGO) Starter Collection, which includes the e-collections of the International Labour Organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Organization for Migration, the World Health Organization “Health Today” collection and UN AIDS.

In celebrating the agreement with MyiLibrary President Linda Vendryes, SOLINET Program Development Consultant Linda Howard noted the value of the offer to SOLINET members: “These IGO e-collections will enhance immeasurably the research offerings of our member libraries. We are delighted that Coutts and MyiLibrary were willing to work with us to make it affordable as well.”
