How ALTAFF Membership Works
New and current ALA members can join ALTAFF for $50 with the choice of one section free (Trustee, Friends, or Foundations). Additional sections are $15 each. ALTAFF members in any section can participate on committees, help with the development of programs and resources, and are eligible to run for board positions. Members receive The Voice, ALTAFF’s bimonthly newsletter with articles, resources, and tips from Trustees, Friends, and Foundations around the country. Members also receive additional resources:
- Trustee Section—members can apply for individual Trustee awards and receive access to the Trustee Zone, an online members only resource area with in-depth toolkits and materials specifically for Trustees.
- Friends Section—members receive access to the Friends & Foundations Zone, an online members only resource area with in-depth toolkits and materials specifically for Friends groups and Foundations.
- Foundation Section—members receive access to the Friends & Foundations Zone, an online members only resource area with in-depth toolkits and materials specifically for Friends groups and Foundations.
Librarian Plus Savings Plan
ALA regular members (new or current) may take advantage of unique “Librarian Plus” pricing for ALTAFF membership. For $250, you will receive:
- ALTAFF ALTAFF membership for yourself in all three sections.
- (1) FREE ALA membership and ALTAFF membership for a Trustee.
- (1) FREE ALA membership and ALTAFF membership for a Friend.
- Eligibility for the Board of Trustees and Friends Group to apply for group based awards and grants.
- Opportunity to purchase additional ALA+ALTAFF memberships for individual Trustees and Friends/Foundations for $85, a 22% savings over the regular membership rate.
Friends Group, Foundation, and Trustee Board Affiliates
A Friends Group, Foundation, or Board of Trustees can join ALTAFF as an affiliate to receive publications and online resources. This is not a voting membership for ALA or ALTAFF, and does not include any of the benefits afforded to ALA personal members. Affiliates receive a subscription to The Voice, the bimonthly newsletter of ALTAFF and access to either the Friends & Foundations Zone or Trustee Zone. Affiliates are eligible to apply for group-based awards and grants. Rates are based on library operating budget:
- Small (library operating budget under $1 million/yr): $40
- Medium (library operating budget between $1 million/yr and $5 million/yr): $65
- Large (library operating budget more than $5 million/yr): $100
All members and affiliates are eligible for special offers and discounts from ALTAFF corporate sponsors and receive access to current and archived copies of The Voice as well as additional toolkits, electronic publications, and resources based on the type of membership or affiliate status chosen.
