Ten Places to Reach Parents

Parents are key to getting kids into libraries. Schools are an obvious first choice for reaching out. Here are some other suggestions for placing promotional materials/doing library card sign-up/other outreach. Recruit parents/volunteers to help.

1. Grocery stores
2. Community centers
3. Doctors’ offices
4. Park buildings
5. Coffee shops
6. Day care centers, Y’s, Boys & Girls Clubs
7. Shopping malls
8. Employers (ask them to include info with paychecks/on bulletin boards/in newsletters)
9. Youth-serving organizations
10. Faith organizations
