Fundamentals of Acquisitions
This six-week online course walks participants through the basics of the many facets of library acquisitions:
- acquiring monographs and serials: goals and methods;
- managing materials budgets;
- navigating relationships among acquisitions librarians, library booksellers, subscription agents, and publishers.
- managing materials after the selection decision is made.

Fundamentals of Electronic Resources Acquisitions

This web course on the basics of acquiring electronic resources provides:
- an overview of acquiring, providing access to, administering, supporting, and monitoring access to electronic resources;
- background in electronic resource acquisitions including product trials, licensing, purchasing methods, and pricing models; and

Fundamentals of Collection Development and Management

This online course addresses the basics of collection development and collection management, which are both important areas of responsibility in libraries. Components include:
- complete definition of collection development and collection management;
- collections policies and budgets as part of library planning;
- collection development (selecting for and building collections);

- collection analysis—why and how to do it;

Martha Whittaker Appointed to New Marketing Position on
LRTS Board
Peggy Johnson, editor of
Library Resources & Technical Services (
LRTS), and the
LRTS Editorial Board are delighted to announce the appointment of Martha Whittaker to a new Board position that will work with Christine Taylor in the ALCTS Office on marketing
LRTS to potential advertisers. Martha is head of technical services at Gelman Library at George Washington University, and previously held marketing positions at Serials Solutions, Blackwell's Book Services, and Academic Book Center.
