Evolving Technologies Report
The Task Force on Emerging Communications Technologies has completed its report, which is available for you. The task force was chaired by John Duke (Virginia Commonwealth University), Wendy Shelburne (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Laura Smart (California State Polytechnic University, Pomona), Steven Bell (Philadelphia University), Greg Wool (Iowa State University), and Step Schmitt (ex-officio).
The task force was with charged assessing how ALCTS currently communicates within the division as well as with others, and to consider how evolving technologies might be employed to enhance and facilitate this communication. The technologies that were examined included listservs, email, electronic newsletters, Web sites, online communities, Weblogs ("blogs"), wikis, Web conferencing, and Webcasting. The task force examined how ALCTS groups accomplish their missions, and identified opportunities to facilitate communication through evolving technologies.
