Library of Congress Announces Conference 2000 Action Plan Forum at ALA MidwinterAn update on the LC Action Plan will be held Sunday, January 16, at 10 a.m. in the Hynes Convention Center Room 306. The Conference 2000 Action Plan Forum will be hosted by Beacher Wiggins, Director for Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access, Library of Congress, to provide an update on work that is relevant to " Bibliographic Control of Web Resources: A Library of Congress Action Plan." After a welcome and introduction, Dr. Lynn Silipigni Connaway (Consulting Research Scientist, OCLC Office of Research) will discuss "Sense-Making the Information Confluence," the joint OCLC-OSU user study that will provide information on why and how people use electronic information and how system design features affect use and usability. Her presentation will be followed by an update on the training initiatives that have grown out of the Action Plan. Diane Baden (Associate Director, NELINET), co-chair of the ALCTS/ALISE Task Force for Preparing Metadata and Cataloging Educators and Trainers, will talk about plans for the implementation of recommendations for library and information school curricula (Action Plan work item 5.1). Kathryn Mendenhall (Chief of LC's Cataloging Distribution Service) will speak on the work of the Continuing Education Implementation Group (Action Plan work item 5.3).
