LRTS Receives Recognition from LIS DeansA study that replicates and updates the classic Kohl-Davis Study was presented in October at the National Library Research Seminar III in Kansas City. The new study reported results of ranking the value of over seventy library/information science refereed research journals, and their importance in supporting promotion and tenure decisions. Ratings were taken from the Deans and Directors of the ALA-accredited MLS degree programs in North America earlier this year. The rating scale was 0 to 5 with 5 indicating the journal to be of very high importance and prestige in P&T review, specifically in relation to the candidate's area of specialization for research and teaching. ALCTS' scholarly journal Library Resources and Technical Services ( LRTS) tied for12th, placing it among the top twenty in this highly competitive field. The study will be published in 2005 and is authored by co-researchers Thomas Nisonger and Charles Davis of Indiana University.
