Brian Schottlaender Elected Vice President of ARLBrian E.C. Schottlaender, University Librarian, University of California, San Diego and current Past President of ALCTS, has been elected Vice President/President Elect of the Association for Research Libraries. The ARL Board on which he has served since 2001is the governing body of the Association and represents the interest of ARL member libraries in directing the business of the Association, including establishing operating policies, budgets, and fiscal control; modifying the ARL mission and objectives; and representing ARL to the community. Schottlaender's tenure as ALCTS President during the 2003/2004 year is only his most recent contribution to ALCTS. He has also served our association as Chair of the Planning Committee, 1999-2003, during which time he guided ALCTS through the process of establishing its first five-year Strategic and Tactical Plan; member of the Budget and Finance Committee, 1994-98, as chair the final two years; member of CCS Committee on Cataloging: Description and Access 1989-93, and chair during his final year. He has also been the ALA representative to the Joint Steering Committee for the Revision of AACR 1995-2001, when he also served on CC: DA. Schottlaender is active as a speaker, and was recipient of the Margaret Mann Citation in 2001. We congratulate Brian on this latest recognition of his many talents and fine accomplishments. |
