ALCTS President's Program for 2005 Announced

Don't miss the ALCTS President's Program, Monday morning from 10:30 to noon, June 27, 2005 in Chicago. ALCTS would like to thank Elsevier for agreeing to sponsor the 2005 President's Program.

This exciting program will feature noted media technologist Michael Hawley speaking on creativity and leadership. Director of Special Projects in the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT, Hawley is also an accomplished concert pianist, a computer genius who creates "things that think," and the founder of Toys of Tomorrow. According to The Guinness Book of World Records, Hawley is also the creator of the largest book ever published: Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey Across the Last Himalayan Kingdom. The book weighs more than 130 pounds and measures five by seven feet. Hawley holds two undergraduate degrees from Yale University, and a Ph.D. from MIT.

In addition to Hawley, Karen Calhoun, Associate University Librarian for Technical Services at Cornell University, will speak. We expect this to be a landmark event: be sure to mark your calendars well in advance!
