IFLA Reports from Buenos Aires and Other Events on the Horizon
Miriam
Palm, ALCTS Newsletter Online Editor
This
issue contains coverage of ALCTS-related activities at the recent IFLA
meeting in Buenos Aires. Our division has official representatives to
six sections of IFLA, and I am pleased to include an additional report
covering the Audiovisual and Multimedia Section. You may not have traveled
to Argentina, but I know you will enjoy reading these reports.
It is time to submit nominations for the awards our division will give
next summer, so please consider nominating colleagues and others you know
in ALCTS that will be worthy recipients of these honors. We are announcing
three symposia events that will be held at Midwinter in Boston, which
we hope you will attend. This issue contains a new Publications column,
listing works that are available for review in our journal Library
Resources and Technical Services.
I want to offer special thanks to Charles Wilt and Julie Reese, currently
the two staff in our office in Chicago. With the resignations of Andrea
Tobias in July and Kirsten Ahlen in August, Charles and Julie are soldiering
on and keeping the most critical division projects on track. Julie recently
has earned her certification as a Certified Meeting Professional; please
see the separate article about her achievement.
