On the Cusp of a New Fiscal Year, and New Challenges
Miriam
Palm, ALCTS Newsletter Online Editor
This
issue contains our coverage of the recent ALA Annual meeting held in Orlando.
I hope all of you who attended had a great time in Florida; of course,
we now are thinking about the many residents and visitors who have been
affected by hurricane Charley there.
The issue contains comprehensive coverage of the programs that were held
and the committees, interest, and discussion groups that met during conference;
a summary of actions taken by the division board; and coverage of the
2004 awards ceremony that honored well-deserving ALCTS members. The issue
also includes a Publications column from Library Resources & Technical
Services Book Review Editor Edward Swanson, a report on the LC Action
Plan, two sponsor profiles, and annual reports of the division and all
but one of the sections. We have had an exciting year programmatically!
I urge you to read the financial update from the Budget & Finance
Committee carefully, as the fiscal solidity of ALCTS is important to all
of us, and affects us all. More fiscal information is contained in the
President and Executive Director's columns. This is a good time to express
interest in becoming an active member of our organization, so please volunteer
for a committee assignment; the form is available online.
We'd love to have you join us in planning the upcoming year of programs,
publications and exciting events.
