Please Vote: Early But Not Often!

It's
a beautiful spring here in California: the roses are blooming, the air
is fresh, and I hope those of you who live in a less benign climate are
on the verge of experiencing some pleasant weather. In this issue we have
shared the April Fool's Day message our Executive Director sent to the
division leadership, and among other things, it announces that ALA is
establishing a satellite office in San Diego. Would that it were true!
I want to encourage all of you to vote in the ALA spring election, if
you have not already done so. The ballots are online, and each of you
should have received a message instructing you in the procedures to vote.
If you have not voted yet (or cannot find the message), please contact
Charles Wilt right away, because the
deadline for voting, April 25, is fast approaching. ALA has made it easy
for us to vote, so let's participate in our organization by doing so!
This issue contains information about the upcoming Annual meeting in
Orlando, including the meeting schedules, and a request for your help
in recruiting new ALA and ALCTS members by staffing the division booth
during conference. This is a lot of fun, and our members are our best
assets for encouraging new members to join. I need volunteers to write
brief reports on our programs and pre-conferences scheduled for Orlando,
so those who cannot attend in person will still reap the benefits of our
fine educational presentations. Please see the separate list, by time
slot, I have included in the issue, and help me out by agreeing to write
a summary of a program you plan to attend. They are all winners, thanks
to the hard work of many members.
