ACRL Seeks Editor for RBM: A Journal of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Cultural HeritageACRL is seeking an editor for its journal on special collections, RBM: A Journal of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Cultural Heritage. The RBM editor is responsible for the editorial content of the journal and is assisted by an editorial board, primarily in developing editorial content and refereeing submissions. The editor, who is the chair of the RBM editorial board, receives submissions and sends them out to board members for their review. In some cases, the editor invites particular authors to submit articles on a chosen theme. The editor makes the final decision on all items appearing in the journal. For more information about RBM, refer to the Web site at www.ala.org/acrl/rbmltxt.html or contact Hugh Thompson at ACRL, tel. (312) 280-2517. The position of editor of RBM is voluntary. The editor is appointed for a three-year term and may serve a maximum of three such terms. The editor recommends members of the journal’s editorial board to the ACRL Publications committee for its approval. Production of the journal is handled by the production manager at ACRL Publications in Chicago, with whom the RBM editor works closely. Interviews will be held at the 2003 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia, and an appointment will be made by the ACRL board of directors during the early spring of 2003. The incoming editor will assume full responsibilities in June 2003. Applicants must be members of ACRL. Submission of applications for the position of editor via e-mail are encouraged but may also be sent on paper by January 3, 2003, to Hugh Thompson, Manager, Publications, ACRL, 50 E. Huron St., Chicago, IL 60611. |
